Information, Access, Advocacy: A Day of Service with the League

Today's political climate is both tense and toxic. Being politically engaged, respectful, and

knowledgeable are all essential to rebuilding a positive and united political environment.

This Global Youth Service Day, work with the League of Women Voters to promote the

spread of information, access, and advocacy. Be heard and be active!

Join us for a discussion on voter engagement and a vote-related project.

The League is for everyone. All genders are welcome to participate in this project.

Recycle Bikes Back into the Community at the Bike Project

Want to learn more about bikes and how to fix them? Come volunteer at the

Bloomington Bike Project for a day filled with hands-on activities including

bike repairs, learning about bike safety, and assembling & disassembling bikes.

Everyone, regardless of current knowledge of bikes, is welcome!

Planting Harvest Rows with Hoosier Hills Food Bank

food in our community! Participants will help in the gardens at Will Detmer

Park planting chard, cabbage, lettuce, and kale! Volunteers should come ready

to work in closed-toe shoes and clothes they don't mind getting dirty.

Garden & Food Pantry Workday with Mother Hubbard's Cupboard

Join Mother Hubbard's Cupboard to work towards increasing access to healthy food in

our community! Participants will help with mulching and weeding in the garden,

spreading gravel in the parking lot, and deep cleaning the food pantry.

Volunteers should come ready to work in clothes they don't mind getting dirty.

Partaking in this GYSD project helps the Hub more effectively serve approximately

3,800 people a week through our food pantry, nutrition education and garden

education programs.

A Day at Lake Griffy with Parks and Recreation

Garlic Mustard and Bush Honeysuckle and Multiflora Rose, oh my! These invaders don’t

belong in the forests! All hands…and big muscles are needed to do a clean sweep of these

natural areas. Good shoes and teamwork are needed to get this project done. In the

wilderness of our City Parks there is always much to be done!

This team is partnering with the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation department

to head out to the Lake Griffy Nature Preserve to work on trails, invasive plant

management, and planting. We’ll work rain or shine!

Camp Rock Clean Up with Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington

Help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington prepare for a fantastic summer out at

Camp Rock! Located on the shore of Lake Lemon, BGC Bloomington’s Camp Rock

property needs help in preparing our grounds for the summer! Projects include:

trail work, trimming back foliage, painting, power washing, cleaning, & spreading

gravel and mulch (along with anything else we can think of).

Enjoy your service day overlooking the beautiful Lake Lemon, all while helping us

better serve the youth of Bloomington.

Please dress ready for thorns, getting dirty, and maybe even a little wet!
